Can Alligators use the "death roll" on land or only in water?

My brother and i were trying to figure out whether or not a gator can do a "death roll" out of water

Yes they can. But, the crocodiles are the ones that do the death roll most of the time. An alligator's food selection ism ore limited than a crocodiles. Alligators are more used to eating  smaller animals than larger ones like antelopes, buffalo, zebra, and other animals. Many alligators prefer raccoon sized animals or a bit smaller because they have the ability to swallow them all. Crocodiles, as I've witnessed before in videos and TV shows, can do the  death roll in or out of water.

It  is known  as a defense or prey catching mechanism that all crocodiles will use. Alligators don't use the death roll as much because the areas where the live are not known to have as large prey. Even where they live in Asia, alligators are not used to catching such large prey like  crocodiles. Alligators are also quite a bit smaller than crocodiles.

Death rolls can be done on land or in water; it is a defensive mechanism as well as a food-getting mechanism (the grab-and-tear method). Friction is not a problem, as it is muscle controlled, voluntary action.  Because crocodilians are opportunistic and get their food on land as well as in the water, they can do it in both environments.

  I seen film clip of either a alligator or crocodile  do the 'death roll' to kill and dismember a key deer in florida on dry land.

there is a video on youtube where an alligator in a circus or something gets this man's arm, and does the death roll, so yes, it can be done on land.
