Can America still beat China in gold medals?

Americas baseball, softball, and basketball teams could all win gold, so doesnt each team member count? i know that the usa is 19 golds behind....

They all get individual medals except the coaches but it only counts as 1 in the over all count.

if they all win gold, then they'll have 3 more golds.. not 19

I am very disappointed because I thought US would make the race a bit more exciting by pulling closer through Track.  But now i think they will be lucky to achieve the same amount as they did the last time in Athens.

I thought the Americans only cared about the total medal count.....only after they saw how far behind they were with the gold medals ofcourse...

What difference does it make  who has the most gold ? The original Olympics were never measured on team efforts. These were  based on the efforts of individuals and the individuals are what count.

And China still has table tennis and diving to go, they also have defending champions for taekwando, canoeing and womens volleyball, plus 4 of their boxers had made to the semi final at 4 different divisions.

There's a chance, but the likely hood is not possible.  The US had a great showing since the Olympics for them is recreational, where for the Chinese, it is an investment.  Congrats to all the athletes.

but they could beat them in overall medals.
