Can Americans own land/property in London, England?

In the future I might move to London, so I was curious if Americans can own land in London.

You are legally allowed to own property & land in London BUT as other posters said house prices are ridiculously high, particularly in the capital (although it is starting to look as though there will be a housing market crash)

you will need a lot of money to own what would seem like a doll's house to most peole, but there is no reason why you can't own property
