  1. hello..im from butuan..foriegners are not allowed to buy property unless they will stay for good in the philippines or in butuan..

unless u have a filipina wife or fiancee..then u can buy propert in her name..

i miss ur other question about traveling butuan..

    take care!

  2. No, you cannot own property in the Philippines if you are an American. You can own a condo, but not the land the condo is on. You can own a house, but not the land the house is on. That means you can buy a house but government officials can still come by and take your land. Then what are you going to do? Nothing. You wouldn't have any rights and if you complained, it's the Philippines, and they would just shoot you. That's what it's like there. Then, they would take your house too.

There are alternatives. You can marry a Filipina (that wouldn't be so bad from what I hear) and she can own the property. Or you can open a corporation and it can own the property. But the corporation can only be 40% foreign-owned (that's you).

If one of your parents is Filipino, they can give you their land and you can own it legally, even if you do not have Philippine citizenship.
