Can Americans legally travel to Cuba???

Most, no, but there are exceptions for humanitarian aid and certain fact finding missions. If you have the right reason, you can get there.

Many do travel there by going to another country first and then flying to Havana. The problem is that upon returning to the States, they don't want there to be any stamps in their passports from Cuba or they will be detained and possible have charges brought against them.

Under US laws, there are only certain categories who can travel - and tourists aren't one.

Tens of thousands of US citizens travel to Cuba illegally ever year, and probably only a handful or so have any problems. (Ry Cooder, Dan the piano man, the self-styled "silver fox" whose website was about cigar smuggling).

Don't take back any souvenirs.

Americans can legally travel to Cuba if they get special permission and a government license for certain circumstances.

Visiting immediately family, volunteer work, education purposes, teaching purposes, religous work, sports/athletics, just to name a few.

There are flights going directly from the states into Cuba as well...many think there aren't.

Do not use a credit card in Cuba for ANY reason whatsoever.  The US state department will nail you.

you do have to fly but u also NEED a passport. they wont let u on an airplane from canada to cuba or the US to cuba w/o a passport

I think you can if you fly to Canada or Mexico and fly to Cuba from there. You just can't fly out of an American airport.

It is illegal and you can get into a lot of trouble> They must get a visa or They travel to a 3rd country to get to cuba which is still technically illegal
