  1. The thread is a very special thread. You will not find a tap or a die at you local sears store. If you are looking for threading tools, you will need to call a specialty tap maker.

The outside thread is .305-32 and the inside thread or the core (valve) is .206-36

  2. About 8 mm metric fine.

  3. to answer your question, it's a special thread, valve keys incorperate these, as they include the dressers, for the external and internal threads in their insertion keys, as well as an insertion tool.

  4. The thread is the grooves on the tire surface (not the valve).  They allow allow to escape so the tires don't hydroplane (slide around) on wet pavement.

    Good Luck...

  5. The thread is noticeable because your dust caps are not there.

You should have these dust caps in place to, oddly enough, keep dust out of the valve.

  6. Could be the thread on the valve stem itself, though. The thread are the spiral cut ridges in the metal of the valve stem (where you put the air in the tire) and, if they are messed up, they could be causing your tire to lose air due to the cap not fitting tightly.

Most shops replace the valve stems when you get a new set of tires.

  7. Just to clearafi (to first replyer) on a tire its the tread that is the groves in the tire not thread.

Not I don't know the size of the threads on the inside or the outside of the tire valve.. but they are all the same so if you are looking for a new cap or a new steam any well work..

    Good luck
