ive been on depo for almost two months now and the first month was a breeze considering the fact that my body has always been very sensitive to any type of birth control. i have always had to stop taking it almost right away because the severity of my side effects. with depo i hadnt experienced any side effects until the second month but the thing that scares me is what im experiencing feels exacty like my first pregnancy to a t. my body has been really hot to the touch, im having really bad headaches, i always feel exhausted and uncomfortable, i can no longer drink coffee and i feel very nautious throughout the day. i am also experiencing some pain in my abdomen. but when i took a pregnancy test it came back negative!? any input on this... could i be pregnant?

  1. I would definately take another pregnancy test later. And I'd take it in the morning, cause that's when the hormones are the strongest. Maybe consult a doctor..


  2. The depo tricks your body into thinking it pregnant, so you do not ovulate.  Neat Trick huh?  That's why you have no periods.  Good Luck.

  3. I think you should see a doctor, not only to get a pregnancy test, but to switch birth control methods. I know that once you miss a period, false negatives on pregnancy tests are extremely uncommon. If the test said it was negative it most likely means you're not pregnant, though there's always a chance it was wrong. If you're not pregnant then those side effects seem really uncomfortable.

    I use the Nuvaring and love it, maybe it would be a better option for you? I haven't experienced any bad side effects except for being a little overly emotional in the beginning.

    I have, however, been having shorter lighter periods, and I never get cramps anymore. I'm having my period less often too, I'll have a 3 day (or less) period one month, then just spot a tiny bit the next month.
