I Have Just Finished A Book Called We Need To Talk About Kevin. It Was Really Good, I Reccomend It :)

But Now I Am Looking For A New Read. I Like Horror/Mythical Books. Like Ones About Magic And Battles And Stuff (if anyone likes the same i reccomend juliet marillier) Horror Or Mystery Books Are Good. Basically Anything With A Story Line.

Can Anyone Reccomend A Good Book And Give Me A Basic Blurb?

Thanks :)

  1. 'Once' by James Herbert

I was never really interested in Fairies and Demons, but this guy knows how to write.

He gives a description so that you feel that you are living it and describes characters as if they have been your friends all your life.  Believable, unputdownable and an amazing read.

I think you would love it.

    :)

  2. Yeah Ive read We need to talk about Kevin, great book.

Id recommend Popcorn and Dead Famous by Ben Elton, The curious incident of dog in the night time by Mark Haddon, and if you liked "Kevin" you'll most likely enjoy The lovely bones by Alice Seebold.

    Enjoy :)

  3. Night Shift by Stephen King, it is a collection of short horror stories. You will be glued to the book.

  6. What is your age group?

  7. I hate to sound like one of the grammar freaks, but what's with all the capitals, that must have been really annoying having to put in all those.

Anyway, enough of that.  Have you read Dune by Frank Herbert?  It's the most amazing sci-fi/fantasy adventure ever.  It's quite dark too, it's about a royal family that get moved to another planet where the natives are hostile and another family are looking to usurp them.  The planet is all sand dunes and these big worms live in them that eat people.  Really, if you haven't read it then you should, it's awesome.

You should also give Stephen King's The Dark Tower series a go too, that's pretty amazing, all 7 books of it.  It's got plenty of adventure and some horror too.

There's a book called Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by a woman called Susanne (or Susanna) Clarke and that's really nice and magical, it's a tiny bit slow but it is good.

  8. Stonehenge by Bernard Cornwell

    or

The Warlord Chronicles by him - they're all about King Arthur

very good books - battles, magic and an element of truth in them too (especially Stonehenge).

  9. Angels & Demons - Dan Brown

Alot like his famous "Da Vinci Code" takes place in Italy and deals with a mystery with the vatican.

    Always - Jude Deveraux

Had something to do with the lady's husband missing, she uses her psychic ability.

    Wild Orchids - Jude Deveraux

A writer moves into an old house, somebody is found dead...says it has something to do with a relationship with the devil.

Any books by Scott Westernfeld or Neal Shusterman are really good too.

  11. Anne Rice's vampire and witch books are excellent.

    Also Patricia Cornwell's books

    You have some good recommendations.

If you like myth and humour, try Tom Holt, or Jasper FForde.

And if you want a good laugh, Hitch-hicker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold is good if you enjoyed We Need to TaaboutpKevinein. As is Special Topics in Calamity Physic by Marisha Pessl, and The Secret History by Donna Tartt

  12. Read Angels and Demons by Dan Brown.

  13. The Summoning by Kelly Armstrong .

It's about a girl who starts seeing ghosts. She is also placed in a home for troubled teens as people think she is going crazy.

  14. Like Shebam, I'm also recommending A Great And Terrible Beauty Series. The books are amazing and worth reading.

There's also City of Bones and City of Ashes, it has everything from Vampires to Warlocks. There's humour and romance there too, and a lot of twists and turns.

  15. VELOCITY by Dean Koontz

I've read every Koontz book and King book there is.Plus many classics, and other action and suspensfull books.

None have the fast pace of Velocity. From the 1st page I coudn't put it down. It reads like a runaway train.
