  1. 7a2 + 21 a + a + 3 = 0

    7a( a+3a) + 1(a+3) =0

    (7a+1) ( a + 3) = 0

    a = - 1/7, -3

    hope it helps!!!

  2. *giggle* gee wiz i just love math!

    here we go:

    use the quadratic equation

x= negitive "b" (which is 22) plus or minus the square root of "b" squared (which is 22 squared) minus 4ac (which is 4X7X3) all over 2a (which is 2X7)

-22(plus or minus) the square root of 400____ we got 400 from squaring 22 (484) and subtracting it by 4X7X3 which is 84___ the whole equation didvided by 14.

the square root of 400 is 20 so now you get:

    (-22(+or-)20)/14

"a" has two roots- hence the plus and the minus

so to get one of the roots you have to do:  (-22+20)/14 which is -1/7

for the second one: (-22-20)/14 which gives you -3

    a^2+a-30=0

    (a-5) (a-6)=0

    a-5=0

solve for a and you get 5

    a-6=0

solve for a and you get -6
