I've done Yr 9 and I'm filling out options for new schools. My Mum doesn't want me to take PE because it a "waste of time" and she wants me to do boring Business Studies. Basically can anyone do GCSE PE?

  1. I don't know if anyone can do it, but I know that our school doesn't even offer GCSE short course P.E., probably because the sports facilities are not good. The short course probably takes 1 year instead of 2, has less content than the full course, and only counts for half a GCSE.

I did business studies though, you also learn about franchises like Mcdonalds, the EU, companies. It's also useful if you might want to start up a business in the future. The exams are really easy and I got nearly full marks in the coursework. You could find out if your school has a business studies trip - maybe to the cadbury's factory or something similar.

If I were you, I'd do business studies and see if school offers the Community Sports Leadership Award -  it takes 1 year, you can take it in sixth form and get a qualification in leadership and sport.

If not, you could do the short course and see if they do Young Enterprise instead.

Good luck whatever you pick :)

  2. i did it and loved it, it was hard work but alot of fun, you will do a pep (personal exercise programme, where you have to exercise every day and right down in a planner what you have done that day e.g i horseride and walk my dog alot, then you have to do either muscular endurance or fittness endurance, and do it every week in your p.e lesson and take your heart rate and record how the fitness is helping your resting pulse, i got very fit doing g.c.s.e pe and lost lot of weight then for your exam at the end you pick a sport e.g dancing, horseriding, hockey, netball anything that is a sport and you get videoed doing it and you get marked on your knowledge of the sport, and movement then you get a big paper but all the questions are really easy, im not brainy and i flew through it!!!

    hope this helps :D

by the way i also took buisness studies, it is very very very boring but will help you in the future, i would advise it, its also another easy g.c.s.e paper :D
