  1. They CAN be, but probably shouldn't unless supervised by a licensed doctor.  While they are both benzodiazepines, they are different drugs and will interact with each other and affect the body in slightly different ways.  Taking small doses of each isn't going to harm a typical adult directly.  The mixture of chemicals could put you in dangerous circumstances that would be relatively safe while completely sober or on either individually.  Lorazepam and Clonazepam are considered 'safe' drugs in most cases.  Safe meaning overdoses require a very large dose and are rarely fatal (individually), their drug - drug interactions are minimal comparative to other substances, and they are/can be given without hesitation in ERs and hospitals without much concern.

Again, unless the SAME doc prescribes both you shouldn't take them at the same time.  One last note, my mother is currently on both... one for anxiety and one for sleep...

  2. Very rarely. Also, only if they are both prescribed to you, and both by the same doc.  Taking these 2 meds together may result in a coma, seeing as they're both benzodiazepines, and act the same way (via inhibitory neurotransmission) in the the central nervous system. Be careful. Lastly, even if the same doc. prescribed both, double check to see if he/she meant for 1 to be stopped, before the other is started.
