Can Australia be both east and west of South America? explain your answer.?

yes, unless you beleive that the world is flat... the simplest way to put it  is if you travel from the west cost of South America due west, you will reach Australia... if you travel from the east cost of South America due east, you will reach Australia as long as you go around Africa (that is, if you are traveling by boat, if by plane then just fly over Africa)

Yes because if you leave either country traveling in either direction(east or west) then you will eventually get to the other country.

Absolutely.  Being on a globe, instead of a flat plane, Australia is both east and west, and could even be considered north and south of south america.

The shortest east-west distance between the two conntinents places Australia at the west of S. America, but if you shoot east instead, you'll eventuall get there, too.  If you draw a line directly south, from the center of S. America, and follow it across Antarctica, you'll land in the western part of Australia, and if you shoot directly north from the same starting point (the longest trip, by far), you'll get there, too.
