Can you still get HECS help from Australia, or can you get it from New Zealand?

And what about Youth allowance, and rent assistance, can we still get support from Centerlink? Or can New Zealand's Version assist us?

  1. http://www.anzsog.edu.au/programs/empa_F...             - that link  may be of assistance and so may this

    http://www.study-australia.com/?id=411

It would seem that you would need to be doing certain subjects that qualify for various scholarships or where they have a joint programme between New Zealand and Australia. The 2nd URL is about such a programme.

Generally I do not think you would qualify for New Zealand assistance. You may however find Australia would assist if there is a reciprocal agreement between the two countries.

It is not really possible to give a general answer as it depends what subjects you want to do and what university you were wanting to attend.

  2. As far as I know you will have to pay your own way.

    Check with the NZ Embassy.

  3. as a kiwi living in oz im sure they have similar rules. To be eligible for any government assistance you need to be a NZ citizen, this means applying for residency and waiting for 2 years. The NZ government doesnt have anything like HECS but you can get student loans from most institutions

  4. Check out Work and Income NZ - NZ's version of Centerlink  (search for Student Allowance)

It really depends on all your circumstances if you  qualify or not - see also Study Link -  http://www.studylink.govt.nz/thinking-ab...
