Can Baby Rabbits Eat Human Baby Food?

Well my mother found 2 wild baby rabbits....My mom saved them because our pitbull was attacking them...there was 5, but sad enough....She got 3 of them :(. We have formula for them that the pet store recommended, but it will only last for 2 days (By the way the baby rabbits are only about 2-3 days old) The formula they gave us is too expensive, so I was wondering, Can we feed them human baby formula? Please someone let me know I am dying to keep these babies alive!

  1. I don't know what that would do to them but I wouldn't try it. That doesn't sound very healthy.

  2. Um.. you shouldn't try just to keep them safe. If you need food for them then give them lettuce and carrots but don't over feed them!!! just to warn you

You shouldn't play with them as much when they're a baby. You could try taking them and putting them in you lap, giving them a baby bottle of water.

You hold a rabbit by one hand on there back and the other hand on there butt (behind). I just got a rabbit 5 hours ago and it's 4 weeks old. They're so cute!!!

Be sure to get them a cage.

    Well bye!!

  3. Sadly you can't! But try feeding them some baby carrots and so what they have try asking the store they might know.

  4. Goats milk should work fine for them.  Also, I've heard breeders say they've had success with baby spinach but I don't think they gave it at this age.  If you can find someone with a healthy domestic rabbit, you can make a kind of "p**p soup" with the droppings to introduce good bacteria into their systems to aid in degestion/prevention of enteritis (tip from wildlife rehabber).

Don't give carrots. :( They would not be eating that normally and it could kill them.

So, go get some goat's milk and try that. Breeders here in California have had luck with that.  Around 4 weeks soak mixe a bit of bread in.  Put good hay (timothy, oat, or orchard) in with them if they don't have it already.  They'll begin to munch as they start weaning.  around week 5 sprinkle a few rabbit pellets in their box with the hay.  Week 6, you can begin to taper off the milk a bit if you feel they are gaining weight okay, by week 7 they should be eating pellets, drinking water, and eating hay.  Make sure they always have the hay at this age.  It helps with the change in foods.

If they get poopie bum, give a tablespoon of uncooked, old-fashioned rolled oats, probiotic, and/or a bit of plain yogurt.

    Good luck.
