  1. dress shoes arent really requires but shoes of some sort would make it so your feet wont be sore in the end

  2. No. And plain dress shoes of the street style aren't good, either. The thin seueded leather sole of ballroom shoes is not just a silly tradition but practical. It allows the proper amount of feel and traction. Ballroom requires lots of turns, and slipping wouldn't be good, either, so either too much or too little will limit you. Also, you're occasionally going to have a crash with another couple, no matter how good your floorcraft is. It hurts to have your Achilles tendon stepped on, as any ballroom dancer will attest, and there's no sense in looking for trouble. Also, you're in a public venue, and some proprieties should be met.

For practice, at home, then you won't do quite as well, but if you want to go barefoot then, who's to say no?

  3. You would want to build up calluses on your feet to reduce friction, esp. for turns.

  4. i guess so for practice but at a concert yuo could use ballet flats facncy ones!!

  5. Most ballroom dancing should be done in shoes. But not dress shoes. You have to use character shoes. They protect your feet from injury.

  6. Professionally speaking, you should wear shoes (if only to avoid injury), but I suppose they're not completely necessary.

(Unless you're doing the Paso Doble, which requires the "foot stomping" technique that you're probably familiar with.)

    (or unless you're doing tap)

  7. it can be done barefoot but your feet won't hurt as much if you wear shoes

  8. You probably wouldnt want to dnace barefoot in a class or at a competition, but I guess if you were practicing in your bedroom, why not!?
