yes i do it all the time just type in the number like a regular credit card

As long as it has a Visa, or MasterCard logo. (Which it should.) You will then enter it as a "credit card" and the card type will be whoever's logo is on your card.

These people are confusing ATM cards with debit cards. An ATM card cannot be used online.

A regular ATM card may be used Only at an ATM machine. Talk to your bank about getting a debit card.

You may need a checking account to have it. (Not positive about that)
