I have a one year old bearded dragon & everytime I bath him I always use very shallow water about up to his elbow's. I was wondering why does the water have to be so shallow & what would happen if I a Beardie came into contact with deep water ?

  1. Actually bearded dragons are from semi-arid areas, and have been seen swimming in pools of water when available.  They are very good swimmers.  It is OK to soak them in warm water up to their shoulders.  Put a towel on the bottom of the tub so they have something to grip.  Some love the water, others hate it.  All beardies should have regular soaks to help with shedding and to keep well hydrated.

  2. well if you are trying to build trust pu him in deep water to where he cant touch the bottom and put your hand out so then he swims to you and he looks at you knowing that you will save him when he is in trouble so he will think of you as protecter. you are a forgeting something bearded dragons are from the desert the only water they see is off the dew on plants

  3. NO, THEY CAN NOT BE IN DEEP WATER~

They can't be in deep water, if you have the water deep but no deeper than 3/4 length of their body, they are fine. However, they have to have something to hold onto also. They will panic and flip upside down in deep water if left long enough. They are native to the desert, not in deep water. If you want to kill him, put him in deep water.

  4. he would swim to the bottom, find a penguin, kill it and bring it back to you.

You see... everyone loves Penguins so thats why. They dont want the water to be deep because they want Penguins to live.!
