Can Borderline Personality Disorder be controlled well with medication?

my nephew told me he had anxiety and depression - then about a year later he said he was "doing good"

  1. Anxiety, depression, and other issues the person might have can benefit from medication.  As for the disorder itself, that's mostly treated with therapy.  BPD is not a biological problem, so there's controversy about treating it with meds.  Some may benefit, but as far as I know (not an expert), meds are mostly used to treat the cormorbid problems.

  3. If your nephew has borderline personality disorder, medicines can treat the anxiety and depression but not the disorder. Therapy, and what is called DBT therapy helps with emotion regulation, it is like living on a roller coaster of emotions. It can be helped, but no cures so far. Some people do better than others with it.
