Can Brazil win there sixth World Cup title
Brazil have been installed with odds of 5-1 to win this year’s FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the team may be the only country which has competed in every World Cup and have always looked to be a dominating force, but can they win there sixth World cup title this year?

The reality is that Brazilian football nowadays is very fragile in comparison to Europe. The biggest elite of world football is now in Europe, where there is a much stronger qualifying competition for World Cup places compared to South America.

Just for the record - Argentina only just sealed their qualification in their last match – and they celebrated as if they had won the World Cup already, it will be interesting to see how far the team reaches under the management of legend Diego Maradona.

Brazil cannot get carried away just because they qualified comfortably, this year’s squad will indeed have to work hard as the only top two world class players I can think of is goalkeeper Julio Cesar and Kaka.

In past campaigns, the team would have four, five, six great players, each one of them capable of winning the World Cup on their own: Garrincha, Pele, Romario, Ronaldo and Rivaldo are all fine examples.

At the moment, Brazil are dependant on Kaka, but if he gets injured, what is going to happen?

At a time where Brazil does not have many big stars, it does not make sense to leave out players who could bring vital experience into the team. Brazil’s coach Dunga decided to drop Adriano, Pato and Ronalidinho from his final squad selection.

The whole world is surprised by this, especially with Ronaldinho not being selected, he should be there, with his experience of two World Cups and a champion in 2002, the player is still young at 30 years of age. He might have had problems, but problems which could have been resolved.

Brazil’s first game is on June 15 against Korea DPR in Johannesburg, a game in which they should easily succeed. There’s no question in mind that Brazil won’t advance from the group stages, but my concerns are whether the team this year is good enough to go all the way.
