Yes the child can.  I am the mother of three girls and have blue eyes, my husband has hazel brown eyes.  Our first daughter has dark brown eyes, our second daughter blue eyes and our third daughter has hazel brown eyes. On my husband's side of the family there is a lot of blue eyes (even his Mom) so that probably played a part in us having a blue eyed child.  Every time it was interesting to see what colour their eyes would turn out to be.  By about 18 months old we could tell what colour eyes they would indeed have.
