  1. I assume from the way you've posted this that you are referring to the tax withheld from US casino winnings?

    The answer is 'Not really'

To get any refund of tax withheld, you will have to file a US tax return.  From your income shown, you will have to show losses from gambling to partially or completely offset your winnings.  Those losses have to be detailed: who, what, when, where.  If you can adequately show those losses, you can get a partial or complete refund.

So essentially, if you realy walked away with $10,000 in winnings, you'll pay tax.  If those winnings followed $20,000 in losses, you would get the tax back that you paid.

It's a lot of hassle, so it's not worth it for most people, although there are lots of companies who will gladly take your money to do the work for you.  Check VERY carefully what is being offered and what they can promise before using one of them.

  2. There is no income tax deducted off lottery or gaming winnings in Canada.

If you are a Canadian resident, and win money at a casino in the US, it is subject to tax, and you need to go through the IRS to get all or part of it back as you are a non-resident.

  3. Lottery and game winnings are non-taxable in Canada. The only exception would be if you make your living as a professional gambler. In either case, there shouldn't have been any tax withheld.
