Can Child Benefit be claimed by a parent when a child is in local authority care?

When a child is taken into care by social services can a parent still claim Child Benefit if they still spend money on the child?

no because the rights of the parent and responsibilities have been temporarily removed, therefor anything bought for the child is purely a gift.

i think when social services removes the child the parents rights are temporarily revoked atleast until either the parent gets him back or until rights are romoved permanently. and if you dont have rights to a child you cant claim them for benefits

it all depends my mum still claimed hers and got it stopped and now has to pay it back

my bro went into foster care and she was okay then but he is now in a kids home which is different and hence it has stopped
