Can Cockroaches Bite You??

Question

like the ones you sometimes find in your house.

one of my friends had a bump on her and someone told her it was a cockroach bite.

is that true?

Can it?  Yes, it is possible for a cockroach to bite someone with its mandibles.  Would it?  I would be highly suspect of accusing a cockroach of delivering a bite on a human.

To prevent unwanted insects sharing a bed with you, make sure to wash away or remove any food from your sleeping area.  Don't eat in bed, wash your face and brush your teeth before bed, and if you have eaten in bed change the sheets.

Can they bite, yes.  Are they likely to bite, no.  Unless you actually saw a cockroach bite I would suspect another insect or spider first.

it could be possible. when I had to get some allergy testing done, the nurse tested me to see if I was allergic to cockroaches. So I guess if they can bite, people could be allergic to them.

I do not know about your friend but a cockroach did bit me once when i was sleeping. It entered my pajamas and bit me on the leg. I felt a pinch and i woke up shaking my pajamas vigorously. The culprit fell down and it was a big one, about 2 inch long excluding antennae. I was so shocked that i killed it instantly.

The morning after i saw reddishness on the skin where it bit me. I didn't get a bump though.

The reason why it bit me could be the dead skin ( all humans shed skin) on my leg etc. But i am sure why it must have climbed the bed, i ate my dinner on the bed and some tiny crumbs must have been left.

if it has a mouth, it can bite.  it most likely didn't bite, but it can.

the bump could be an irritation due to any number of things.  too many times people get a bump or rash and try to attribute it to a bug bite.  (spiders in particular)

think about it, if you were a bug, would you bite godzilla?!

They might be able to ask a doctor. A cockroach was in a neighbors house and her daughter said it bit her.

Well, a friend claims he was bitten by a cockroach.  I remain dubious.
