  1. hey, our avatars look alike^^ LOL

i'm not sure but i know that your vision should be 20-20

  2. Can I be colour blind and still fly?

You can fly to a PPL level license with colour blindness.

Australia was also the first country to allow you to be colour blind and still get a Commercial Licence - so there are now career options for colour blind pilots. Keep in mind that this will probably be an obstacle to employment with the major airlines, however there are many other career opportunities.

Each case is different, so this is one condition that requires the advice of an aviation medicine expert.

20/20 Vision is NOT required for comercial pilots.

Yes you can wear glasses and still fly as long as you wear your glasses while you are flying. In fact some of our instructors wear glasses.

The main requirement with eyesight is that your vision can be corrected to near normal vision.

  3. no its against the rules. Can not fly if your color blind. I'm sorry.

  4. John B is a fake

  5. FAR 67.103c, 203c, 303c.

    (c) Ability to perceive those colors necessary for the safe performance of airman duties.

The above is for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class medicals. In the US to fly into a controlled airport, you must be able to distinguish aviation red, green and white for communication with the tower if the radio is out of service.

If you are color blind to those colors you must demonstrate that you can differentiate which color is flashing. If you know that red appears to you as brown you can tell if a red light is on. Same with green. To just about every rule  there is an exception. All you have to do is demonstrate.

  6. Yes -- but only during the day.  Color resolution is required for night flying.  (US rules.)

  7. Nobody got it right again. Sure you can if you can obtain a certificate of demonstrated ability. At least in the US. Not sure about the UK but you could ask. The feds here will take you to an airport and have the tower flash their light gun at you. If you can identify the colors, you'll be issued even a first class medical certificate with no restrictions. Many fail the color test and still get their ticket this way.

One caution. Don't ever, I mean never, take answers you get here very seriously. Even from me. I've seen many answers like these here that if you took them seriously, you might miss a great opportunities. Some answers to other questions could even get you killed. Fun stuff playing around here. But  learn to do your own research when making big decisions.
