Article I, section 2: I don't see where the House of Representives has any restriction on who they can impeach.

Section 3: Judgement may not only entail removal from office, but also prohibit holding any other office.

per wiki Alcee Hastings: The Senate had the option to forbid Hastings from ever seeking federal office again, but did not do so.

C- for all answers so far.

  1. no if they could they would have clintons

  2. No they can't.  Impeachment is only for sitting Presidents.

Bush will never be impeached or go on trial for any crimes, because he has committed no crimes.  But you can keep on dreaming if you want.

  3. No.  Ex-Presidents can't be impeached.  Nor are they ever charged with crimes after they leave.

  4. Since the only punishment, if convicted, is removal from office, it would be kind of stupid to be able to impeach someone after they're already gone.

  5. If the Illustrious statesmen of our Congress haven't shown the cojones to do it up to now , why do it after the horse is out of the barn?

  6. No, and it won't happen before he leaves, either.

Nancy Pelosi has taken that option "off the table".

Interesting, isn't it?  A couple of guys break into the Watergate Hotel, no one is killed, and no money stolen, and Nixon leaves in shame.

Clinton is accused of financial mismanagement, hundreds of millions spent of tax payer money to Ken Starr, nothing found, no one died.  Bush lies about Uranium from Niger, about a connection that never existed between Saddam and al Qaeda, weapons of mass destruction, which were never found, gets us into a war only on lies, his cronies making billions in contracts, and Nancy Pelosi takes "impeachment off the table"??????  Ya gotta wonder, don't ya.

Republicans are crooks, and Democrats spineless jellyfish.  Go figure.

  7. You cannnot impeach a President after he has left office.

  8. No.  It becomes a moot point.  However, he is more open to civil and criminal suits.  That's something to look forward to.  Cheney at least as much as Bush.
