Question:

Can Cricket Go Global?

By cricket, I mean the format of T20. And by global, I don't necessarily mean even as high as football. Can cricket become as globally popular as basketball ( played in 200+ countries) or tennis ( played seriously in well over hundred countries). And please people, thoughtful answers. Not "T20 isn't proper cricket." or "Cricket sucks."

  1. i think cricket is more interesting sport than football

  2. NO-because cricket takes tooo long to play in a world that is fast paced and everything made to be instantaneous.

we play it because it was always part of our culture but to introduce the game to another country-well... i just dont think that they have the time to learn and respect the game.

  3. It will take time. ICC is making efforts to develop the game in the countries which they have given "associate" status, thats beside the status of test & ODI teams. There are currently 34 associate nations(where the whole setup of board & ground facilities has been set up & the effort is on improving the standard) & over 60 "affiliate" nations(where cricket has been introduced) under their development scheme. Regional bodies in Asia, Europe, Africa, America have been set up for  close attention on the continental teams.

ICC also organises cricket tournaments among their developing member countries like ICC 6 nations challenge, ICC Inter-continental championship, & World cricket leage..

    So its all in process.

  4. No - cricket cannot go global - it cannot beat the soccer crazy countries
