I don't know what they could do, just want to know if anyone has any information. I'm looking into purchasing one.

  1. Most service providers charge extra for more space on their units.

Depending on your service provider they may charge you fees for opening up their equipment and altering it without permission.

  2. I'm not sure about cable but Dish Network recommends it. You have to have it formatted to their system and it costs $35.00

  3. no, why would they care if you had a bigger hard drive

  4. Use it, but be aware that the cable company will charge you for any damage/problems they have to fix due to you installing it yourself. We charge 40 dollars an hour for such things, but if you are confident in how to use it, go ahead, you do not have to let anyone know, just be aware of possible charges resulting from improper installation/use of it.
