Can David Hearn turn his fortunes around at the Greenbrier Classic?
David Hearn, the man who was named Rookie of the Year at the 2002 Canadian Tour, has not lived up to the expectations. The Canadian has played on the PGA Tour, Asian Tour, Canadian Tour and Nationwide Tour but has not yet made his mark.
The 33-year-old has only two professional wins till now and is looking to improve his ranking. He is currently ranked at 221 in the world.
The Canadian started off the season on a good note. He finished T10 at the Sony Open in Hawaii but then could not make the cut in the next two events that he participated in.
His next commendable performance came at the Valero Texas Open, where he ended up at T11. Despite his two good finishes, this season has not been up to the mark.
So far this season, he has played 17 events and out of those 17, he has managed the cut in only 11. He has just one top-10 finish this season.
His FedEx Cup standing is 103 and he has 350 FedEx points. Nevertheless, he has won a respectable amount of money this season, $585,355.
In his last performance at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, he finished way below on the leaderboard, at T42, and had an overall score of 2-over.
David Hearn has only played one major, US Open. Twice he featured in it, in the years 2005 and 2008. However, he failed to make the cut both the times.
He has won once on the Nationwide Tour and once on the Canadian Tour, back in 2004.
Last season, Hearn had a similar tour, he played 26 events and managed the cut in 19 of the tournaments.
Although he managed 19 cuts, he could only come up with 6 top-25 finishes, which is not a decent result, considering the fact that he had made the cut in many of theevents.
With the Greenbrier Classic about to start, the question arises that can he make the cut this time? Well, if we look at his last year’s performance at the Greenbrier Classic, he finished T18.
Finishing T18 at such a big event is really a tough ask, he finished with a score of 5-under.
David’s confidence will be low, considering his performance this year, but he can fall back on his last year’s performance at the Greenbrier Classic to boost his morale.
Can Hearn repeat the performance he gave last year is yet to be seen, but surely, he can feel confident going into the tournament.
David Hearn has made cut in the last seven events, unlike the start of the year, where he missed so many cuts frequently.
There were many rumours that the event might be delayed due the storms that have hit the east coast.
It was confirmed, however, that there were trees all over the golf course but with the help of local authorities, the course has been cleared and the tournament will go on as per schedule.
Apart from David Hearn, there are a few others as well who are looking to turn around their fortunes. Stuart Appleby is one of them. He has gone off the radar after his finish at the 2010 Greenbrier Classic.
