Can Dragonflies heal themselves?

My cat attacked a dragonfly a while ago and i put it in a bowl,but two wings are cut up a little and some of the back portion of the dragonfly has been torn off, but not too much. Will the dragonfly be able to recover?

  1. No. The adult stage is the last stage and hence its not going to repair itself. The only time insects can heal is during molting but most severe injuries may not heal completely.  Insects are very sensitive to injury. A lost limb can be devastating to its survival because it uses its legs to capture prey/food, or run from predators.

    Can it still fly? Dragonflies are very dependant on its wings. It won't live in captivity. It might be possible but you can try catching some flies and feed it manually. I'm sorry to hear what happened.
