  1. Of course we are all affected by the sun. Humans require the sun because it provides energy for us because plants grow by absorbing the sun's rays and through chain of events we end up with the energy provided by the sun. The sun also keeps us warm, and gives us vitamin D i believe by being exposed to it.

As for the Earth, it does keep it in orbit, without the sun there none of us would exist. The sun also provides energy to keep the water cycle going.

But of course, anything with benefits has it's downfalls. Without the earth's magnetic field we would be dead from solar wind, and it's because of the sun's energy that gets trapped in the earth's atmosphere (green house effect) that is causing global warming resulting in ice caps, all around the world, melting. Some plants like the grapes in Napa Valley are finding it harder to survive because the climate has changed so drastically over the past years.
