  1. If you do not want to use the full name of Franscesca, why call a child that?  If you want to call a child Effie, call her that right from the start or stick to the lovely name of Franscesca.

  2. no...its not even close

  3. Frankie=S****y.

  4. Effie isn't a really cute nickname to begin with. That's beside the point though... it wouldn't normally be a nickname for Francesca but I suppose you can use any name as a nickname.

  5. I don't see why not. I know a bunch of girls that go by Francesca and Effie has not been a nickname. Personally I don't really like it too much but hey, it's not for me! But it kind of reminds me of a name for poodle in a way.

    Fran

    Franny

    Chetch

    Cheech

    Chesa

    Chessy

    Ches

    Ann

  6. no...i don't think so & why ruin a beautiful name with such a dreadful nickname!

  7. Effie can be a nickname for anything, if that is what you start calling them/yourself.  My son is Kyle, my husband, his stepfather, called him Cleo one night and it stuck... Cleo.... Kyle... lol it is a female name, but he is a tough kid, kinda like "A boy named Sue."

  8. No, it doesn't really make any sense. Frankie's a cute nickname.

  9. I've never heard of it used that way, Effie is usually short for the Greek version of Eugenia.

The Francescas I've heard of get called Fran, Franny or Chessy.

I've noticed that most nicknames are given to us by the people around us (sometimes they're cool, sometimes not), we rarely get to choose. But you don't have to respond to one you hate.

  10. EFFIE

that reminds me of that girl in skins called EFFY and her name is elizabeth lol

  11. No, Sorry,

  12. ermmm...never heard of that before...

    why not Frankie?

  13. you can nickname your kid anything that you want, but i don't think that it works very well.  I know a girl named Franchesca and her nickname is Chessa

  14. I've never heard of anyone called Francesca with that nickname but you can nickname someone whatever you want it doesn't have to be short for their name.

  15. you can nickname your child anything you want, but Effie just doesn't seem to be a part of Francesca to me. however, why is Peggy a nickname for Margaret. and there is Betty for Elizabeth.  Frannie or  Chessie  (like Jessie) sound like nicknames for Francesca.

  16. Not really.

    How about Frankie?

  17. No, I wouldn't say so. If you don't like Frankie (Which I don't either, makes me think of a middle-age guy who theinks he is a pop legend), how about Cessie, which is pretty. Or Cessa, or Fran. Or Frannie.

    Hope I helped =] xo

  18. Sure, why not? I like Francesca and I like Effie, and thank goodness you don't like Frankie, gross.

  19. what about

    fran, frank or jessica.

  20. It could, but there are better nicknames. Buy, if you like it I don't see why not. [How about Cecily pronounce seh-sil-ee]

  21. Somehow I don't think so.

    Sounds nothing alike.

Fran or Frannie maybe, Effie - definitely not.
