  1. I think he'll have to wait until next year, but it depends on Nadal

  2. if he wins all the tournaments that he enters for the rest of the year including this week's one...aw, he did not join this one--I forgot... and if all the others in the top 10 will be injured... and withdraw from all the tournaments...

  3. Its unlikely that Federer can regain it this year because he is defending a lot of points. Nadal didn't do very well in the HC season last year so he can gain a lot. I think that there is a possibility that Federer can slip to third if he does badly.

His best chance is next year when he is defending much less and Nadal practically everything.

  4. He's the defending champion at the US Open so no points can be gained from there. Points could be LOST though. I think if he does become the world number one again, it won't be till next year. He'll have to be in SUPER form to take over Rafa again. The difference between them is almost near a 1000 points.

  5. ABSOLUTELY

  6. M an avid fan of the Fed

But so sorry, the way things are now, is he's had his share of the #1 spot and it's now time for the younger Rafa to reign.

When Rafa is just startin to peak up, I disliked his antics of play, like dribbling the ball too long before a serve (same with Djokovic) & the rest ungentleman like characters.

Now, Rafa had changed to a better player & gained respect like what fans showed to Roger.

Roger will now be on way to retiring as with the legends before him.

Anyway, good luck to both players just the same

  7. i really hope so! i'll keep my fingers crossed

  8. I don't think he will do it this year---but I think he is capable of doing it next year.  It will obviously be difficult, because when you are defending final, semi-final and championship points, it is hard to gain ground. He won't be defending as many points next year, but when you look at his Grand Slam results this year--one semi-final and two finals---there isn't much room to gain points. He did go out early in a couple of Masters Series tournaments this year, so he can pick up points there. Obviously a lot of it depends on how Nadal does next year, because he will be defending a lot of points.  I am a huge RF fan, and I hope he does it!

  9. i dont think before 2009 can he regain his top rank. however, next yr, Rafa has a lot of points to defend than Fedex so maybe it can happen then!!!!

  10. He just has to wait and see how Nadal does in tournaments.

its all up to nadal unless they play against eachother again, then yet again nadal has to make sure he wins.

  11. yes

  12. With Nadal taking top seed for the US Open I think a lot of the outcome will depend on his performance firstly in this tournament. But with Rafa and Nadal to both keep him on his toes I don't have the biggest confidence in him managing to pull back this year, if ever again...

  13. I dont think so, and here's why......he won most of the events at the end of last year so this year he is defending his points not earning new ones.

Rafa's points right now are 6700  Federer's is 5930...so I really dont think he has a chance until 2009 starting with the Australian that he first lost this year, he can get winning points back, but it will be a process since Rafa also got 400 bonus points for the Olympics....ALSO remember Rafa I dont think won anything the end of last year....so anything he does win will only add more points.  Rafa's hardest year will be next year defending all his points.
