Can Fibroids keep you from seeing baby during ultrasound?

I am approximately 6 weeks pregnant. HCG rising as it should, endometrial lining looks normal for 4-6 weeks pregnant, Progesterone levels are good. I have a 8 mm Cyst on my right ovary and I have 3 large fibroid. Two are inter muscular Fibroids and one is relatively small the other one is about 8mm and the last one is hanging off the front of my uterus.

I had an ultrasound last week early in the week and was told by the sonographer that everything was in "The shadow of one of the fibroids" she said I may not be far enough along to see a gestational sac. Went to my regular Ob and he just said that he did not see a baby and that my HCG levels where high enough that he should have seen something (HCG at that time was 1685) did another blood work-up two days later and my HCG was 3060, he is doing another blood draw on Monday August 25th to see if my HCG is still rising. My progesterone levels where good.

Can anyone tell me if the fibroids may be the reason that they cannot see my baby on Ultrasound? I have seen alot of other women post saying that at anywhere from 3 weeks pregnant all the way up to 9 week of pregnancy that nothing was seen, but then later it was seen. I guess I just have the new mom worry warts. Look forward to hearing from anyone who has experienced this as well.

Thanks

  1. I have 3 4cm fibroid and I'm 9 weEks pregnant i could see the baby at 5 weeks and 6 days on ultrasound and at 8 weeks with a heart beat,

I never even knew i had fibroid until the scan told me i was shocked.

your HCG should allow a doc to see a sac at least i had levels at 6 weeks of 1400 and the doc could see a fetal pole and heart beat.

I wish you luck hun i have had a miscarriage this year with higher levels and nothing was seen even at 8 weeks in my uterus but post what happens

I will be thinking of you and have my fingers crossed that your bundle of joy will be on that ultrasound screen
