Can Home Tutors Give High School Credits?

For my high school i had failed a couple of classes in order to go to the next grade......

Is it possible for me to get credit hours from private home tutoring??

  1. It's possible to give them - your parents ultimately decide the earning of credits - but whether your school will accept them is a completely different matter, one that's up to your school.  They have the choice of whether to accept homeschooling credits or not, and schools are all over the board on that decision.

    Long story short...only your school can answer that one.  I'd give a call to the guidance office and see what options they can provide.

  2. Not usually.

    If I understand what you're asking, you want to make up credits by working at home, and have it apply to public school when you go back.  If your state university has extension classes that give high school credit, maybe that would work, if you stay enrolled in the public highschool at the same time and have the school's approval to enroll in the extension classes.

    But if you're going to completely withdraw from the public school and just study at home, the public school probably won't just accept your courses when you go back the next year.
