Question:

Can I, as a redhead, get a good looking tan?

Hey all, I'm a dark redhead and my skin is pretty fair, i mean not ghostly white but definitely not tan. The thing is, this summer I've been outside a lot more than usual and I've noticed that I am actually able to get some color on my body just from being outside. For once in my life I have a tan line ! But I'm wondering if it is possible to go darker, either with going outside or to a tanning place, or if I should just stay the way I am? And if so, what methods do you recommend?

To give you an idea of the sensitivity of my skin, I can wear 15spf all day at a sunny beach and not get any burns at all (although I am a new englander so thats not really saying much)....

Any ideas would help, it'd just be great if I had some more color on my body

Thanks!

  1. I say stick with sunless tanner and bronzer.  As a fellow pale person, I know the pain and agony that comes with sunburns... Keeping your skin healthy will help you avoid such awful things like skin cancer, not to mention wrinkles and crows' feet at the age of 25!

  2.   I would say don't force yourself to tan.  Having a tan is overated now and with the rise in skin cancer it is not recommendable for you to use sun beds.  If you want to give yourself a little bit more colour you can get daily moisturiser with a slight bit of self tan in but to be fair i don't really see that as being necessary!

By spending time in the sun you will naturally get a bit of colour and it's not necessarily the colour of the tan that makes people look sunkissed but the glow you get from the tan itself!!  So don't feel the need to get brown like everyone else in this goddamn world =P
