Can I Drive in Australia on a Full New Zealand License?

I am 16, almost 17 and will be traveling to Australia, Brisbane to see family for about 2 Weeks and I have a full NZ drivers license that I have just got last week, can I drive In australia, I wont be renting a car or anything, will be using the families one, but can I legally drive will my Full NZ License?

  1. A full licence at 17... jeez.. Technically there should be nothing preventing you. I just dont know about your age. Check out http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/ to see if they mention it, otherwise. smarttraveller.com.au


  2. Yes you can drive.  But be careful, Brisbane is alot busier than NZ roads!  

    If you moved to Australia you will have to transfer your NZ license to an Australian one within 3 months.

  3. Yeah you can. They can't stop you. My friend's been driving around SA on his NT licence (which he got around the same time as you 16 and 3 months). Cops pulled him over in Perth, couldn't do a thing.
