  1. If you are adamant you want a debit card, you could always look at the prepaid Maestro, Mastercard route? Doing it this way is ideal if you just want it for occasional purchase online, over the phone and in store?

Do a google search on prepaid debit cards. Best of luck!

  2. There is a bank here in UK that was offering debit cards to people from 12 upwards.THINK it was Halifax, but not 100%

  3. Yes. I got one when I was 14. Just go to the bank with one of your parents.

  4. i think if youre underage, your account will be under your parents. and i dont think you can just freely spend your money. i think you can only withdrawl or deposit money in at an ATM. my sister went through this

  5. No, usually you have to be 18

  6. yes you can becuase a debit card - the money comes out of your bank account.

But a credit card is borrowing moneyy?

  7. No to sign a contract with the bank you need to be 18. Most can offer you a withdrawal card at 16 linked to a svaings account but this would still need to be approved by your parents. A current account needs a formal contract and statute of law states you must be 18.

  8. I got my first debit card when I was 16 last september. But I think you are legible to one! I think you could contact your bank via telephone. I'm with HSBC. They had a look at my savings account first (which I had ages ago!) and then it all followed....

    gudluck!!

  9. Your parents will have to go with you to hte bank and sign for youto open a checking account.

  10. A FEW DAYS AGO I GOT THE CHASE HIGH SCHOOL CHECKING ACCOUNT FOR THOSE 13-17. IT IS LINKED TO A PARENTS ACCOUNT. MY PACKAGE COMES WITH A VISA CHECK CARD. THERE ARE NO SERVICE FEES. ALL THE RULES APPLY WITH THIS ACCOUNT EXCEPT IF YOU OVERDRAFT IT IS TAKEN FROM YOUR PARENTS. SO BE CAREFUL. IT CONVERTS TO A FREE CHECKING ACCOUNT WHEN YOU TURN 19.

  11. If you have a checking account, it would be assumed that you could get a debit card to go with the account.  I had a checking account and checks when I was that age (prior to the day of debit cards) , so call your bank.

  12. If you open either a custodial account with your parent(s) or a joint account with you as a minor, you should be able to get a debit card.  Most banks would love to give you one.  Your best bet is to go to the banking center with your adult and open onsite.  Be sure to bring Identification for both folks.

  13. No! It is not possible to gain a debit card at the age of 15 but if u illegally somehow show u r age above 18 then it is possible. It is a rule that is made by the central bank:" No one is permitted to have an bank account below 18."
