Question:

Can I Get a Replacement for K2 Sonic Boots with Clicker Bindings / Cleats?

I just bought a K2 Fatbob snowboard with K2 Clicker bindings

and K2 Sonic boots with cleats for the Clicker bindings.

The bindings are made by Shimano, which makes me think

maybe they were used by other companies besides K2.

Unfortunately the boots are too small (size 10, but I need

size 11). Do I have to buy K2 boots in oreder to use the

clicker bindings, or are there other brands of boots which

will accept the cleats for use with the existing bindings?

It's a shame the boots aren't my size because they (and the

bindings & board) are in really good shape. If I could find

someone with a pair of size 11 Sonic boots that are too big

for them, it would be fantastic to just trade with them.

But that is about as likely as winning the lottery.

I know most people are now using the ratchet cinch strap

type bindings, but I sorta like the clickers. I wouldn't buy clickers

if I were replacing the boots and bindings, but since they are

there I might as well use them.

  1. They stopped making step-ins about 5 years ago (Clicker, Switch, and SIS). Since then, I have only seen them on rental gear and used gear.

I bought an extra set on eBay in case mine break and didn't pay that much for them. That is probably going to be the only place you will find them. Try to find the same brand because some run small whereas the same brand in a bigger size will probably fit. There are lots of rental shops selling this stuff on eBay.

No, you shouldn't use Clicker boots in ratchet bindings - the boots have built in stiffeners that are not intended for the buckles or the high back of a standard binding.

Edit: I never used clickers, I use Emery Stepins. My kids used them for two seasons on rentals and I think they are the most difficult to get into of all the stepin bindings

    Good Luck
