Can I Play region 1 DVDs?

Hi

I was looking at buying some DVDs off ebay can I play region 1 DVDs on my computer Will it work? I live in Australia by the way

try to check ur dvd rom on ur computer, try right clicking it and look for the properties and its dvd region...if its set to region 1, if not try to highlight the country ur in then click ok...

dvd rom drives have firmware which records the region

you can change the region a set number of times (usually 5) before its locked in forever, so u dont want to mess with it

it is possible to get hacked firmware, or find out some kind of trick to reset or ignore this count. it depends on drive model

also, windows has its own count it does seperate from the drive. but its software so there are tricks to get around that too if you google it
