I have a Toshiba laptop and it has 1GB memory, but that memory is running out, and my iTunes music is to blame. I have a computer upstairs that is connected to the Internet so now my family want me to transfer all the songs to that computer. A USB memory stick does not solve the problem! I would have to use tonnes of CD's and I wouldn't know how to transfer my TV Programmes, and I really don't want to spend the money. What is the best solution?

  1. Get a network cable and connect the computers

  2. I think your mistaken.

That 1GB of memory is actually your RAM.

This is memory used when running programs on your laptop, and NOT the actually saving place.

Your harddrive is where you save your tunes.

Find out how much memory you have on your Harddrive.

    I'm sure your fine.

  3. Toshiba laptop  are very low on memory

you will have to pay use this link buy one of these day give u alot of room copy and paste dis http://search.ebay.ie/search/search.dll?...

    hpe i helped

  4. that 1GB memory is you ram and not your Hard-drive memory, ram doesn't run out.

get a external Hard-Drive, you just transfer your stuff onto that then keep it as back up or put it on another computer. I would recommended a external Hard drive with no less than 250GB hard drive.

    this is what i have

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Freecom-Drive-50...

its cheap and is very good

  5. Hi Kacky to start with i would download winzip from the net and compress everything you dont use much next thing is when its your b/day or christmas ask for a freecom mini hard drive, you can get them as cheap as £50 and fit in your pocket , ive got everything on my computer backed up on mine.

  6. I think you are talking about your harddrive? The 1GB memory is not where you store photo's, music, etc. You store files, music, etc on a harddrive. It's not very convient to use loads of CD's and a USB memory stick is full quite quickly. So I suggest you buy an external hard drive. These things vary from 80 GB to over 1 TB. 80 GB is enough to store over 20,000 songs! An external hard drive connects through USB and they're not that expensive. Hope I helped out!

  7. wow - i would buy more memory for your lap top.  1 gig is not a lot of memory.

You can buy a direct link cord from your lap top to your desktop.  Just go to Radio Shack and explain what you want to do.  I think it hooks up from your USB on your desk top to the USB on your lap top.

I had to do this before - I used a USB stick that was 4 GIG's and it transfered all of the data.  I only had to do 2 transfers.  I was lucky though - I went to Best Buy the day before Thanksgiving and got a 4 GIG stick for 20 bucks.

  8. you can connect the computers with a LAN cable and transfer all the data. Or use the adhoc that is included with windows, if you dont want to spend the money, you should read the instructions as of how to do it, its free.

  9. Are you running windows vista?  If this is the case then itunes is not entirely to blame. That 1GB of memory is the RAM not the storage space. Think of it as your desk space. The larger your desk the more you can have going on without it piling up.  The HARD DRIVE is the storage space where everything goes.  iTUnes is a very memory intensive program but your music and videos goes in the hard drive.  Find out how full your hard drive is but if you have Windows Vista then you need to upgrade your laptop to 2 or more GB of memory.  If you don't know someone who can do it for you I recommend Geek Squad if you have a Best Buy near you.
