When I was 16 i was approached by Capital One. I filled out the form in order to receive a tee shirt or whatever promotion they were giving. I filled out all the information accurately (showing that I was 16 years of age). Now I'm 23 years old and this account is still giving me issues on my credit report. Can I have it removed because it was issued to me while I was under the age of 18? If so, HOW???

  2. Derogatory items age off your credit file 7-1/2 years from the date of first deficiency.  Depending on when you defaulted on the account, it's close to that 7 year mark.  Your credit report should indicate when it will fall off.  It shouldn't be there much longer.  Just let it age off.
