I was thinking of upgrading to vista ultimate or home but I need to know if I can run it. These are my specs.

Intel Pentrium 4 2.8GHZ

1GB RAM

160GB Hard Disk

Direct X9

My video card is Intel82865G but I am thinking of CHANGING TO GeForce FX 5200. Will this be ok for games and vista at the same time?

My Power supply is 250W and is that enough for a fx 5200

  1. Yeah you can run it, but it may be a bit sluggish since you only have 1GB RAM. If you want to run it smooth, I would add another 1GB RAM.

  2. well i wouldnt upgrade if i was you. But thats just my opinion personaly i like vista but its a hog it hogs up valuable resources and uses alot of ram & cpu.

I think you should upgrade to atleast 1.5 gb ram.

but 2.8ghz p4 suck theyre the equivalant of a 1.95ghz amd athlon.

However i recently put togethor an old pc with a p4 at 2.7ghz i put 1.5 gb ram and 7300gt it seemes slow on xp but it only has to run 1 program so its fine.

  3. Unfortunately, you won't get the most out of Vista Ultimate if you upgrade to Vista Ultimate with those specs.  Most Ultimate users have 3 to 4GB of RAM and better graphics cards.  However, you can run Vista Ultimate with 1GB of RAM, but it will be extremely slow and frustrating.

You can check the minimum requirements for Vista Ultimate from here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows...

The minimum amount of RAM is 1GB with a 128MB DirectX 9 graphics card.  So your computer will run Vista Ultimate, but not efficiently.
