Question:

Can I Send A Letter Or Package To A Friend In Santa Clara Cuba?

I just got back from Melia Cayo Santa Maria and made some incredible friends that work at the resort. Had such an incredible time that I'm going back in June! IT IS A MUST! GO THERE!

Anyhow, I have some addresses and would like to send my new friends some clothing maybe a little makeup definitely a letter. Is this allowed? I asked some of the people who work at the resort and they said it is fine so long as they articles are in boxes not envelopes. Does that mean I cant send a letter in an envelope? I'm in Canada by the way.

Please help with any information you can give me it would be a great help!

Thank you!

  1. Thats no problem. As long as you do not send electronics or other not to valuable stuff.

I send letters and packages with normal post to Cuba on a regular basis (from Switzerland) and until now EVERYTHING arrived. Sometimes in 2 weeks and sometimes in 2 month.

Some people prefer to send it by DHL though, but thats more expensive.

  2. Yes you can send letters in envelopes....but any items need to be sent in a box as a package. However, the postal service can run a little slower than courier.

The BEST courier service to use for sending packages to Cuba safely and quickly is DHL.

    Always good to use.

See the links for what is and is not allowed. Clothing and makeup are fine. (But food, mostly perishable, isn't).

Just remember, the heavier the package, the more expensive.

Cuba is beautiful, isn't it?? And so are the friends. They'll be your friends for life...very genuine and warm-hearted.

  3. Sure you can , ...but

First a warning ....Don't send anything by regular post to Cuba , 95% of the letters and parcels do not arrive at destination. The Cuban Goverment has recently admitted that the Cuban Post offices ( Correos de Cuba) have many problems.

Most of the packages are opened to steal the content , letters are opened, checked and searched for money.

I heard that some Canadians use double registered post to send minor items to Cuba. Having said this , the only reliable way to send parcels to Cuba is by DHL international courrier service. They have an office in Havana and they have

a great internet tracking system , you can follow your parcel all the way, really fantastic , ....but the only disadvantage , it's

not cheap. I used it several times for small urgent parcels and documents. read more

Some people seek for travellers to Cuba and ask them to deliver the package to their familly or friend(s).
