Can I activate a Blackberry 8700g that I found?

Any one knows if its possible to activate a blackberry i found. I bought this car at an auto auction. It was a 99' mercedes. and i found a blackberry 8700g in it. Yeah I want to activate. but would it be possible. I don't know if its lock or not.

It just says know service. it has a t-mobile SIM chip in it. What I would like to know if its possible to activate it just in case it might be locked?

Yes you can activate it. You just go to a T-mobile store. or the webiste, and you get a plan or prepaid plan, but instead of getting a new phone, Tell them you want to use a phone you already have, and you want a new SIM card. They will send you the SIM card Via mail. Then you just switch the cards, and the blackberry is now activated.

As to the previous relyer, I am pretty sure the previous owner will not be notified, and hey, if it came with the car, its yours buddy. :)

I wouldn't. A '99 Mercedes at an auto auction was probably owned by someone who got in trouble with the law. If it activates and the owner can locate it using a service record or GPS or something....trouble!
