I have computers upstairs and downstairs and have a wireless network with DSL. Can I have two DSL modems with two routers connected via ethernet to two different desktop pcs?

I want my desktops to be fast and not wireless.

  1. It would be easier to buy a router and setup a wireless network, all you would have to do is connect the router to your dsl model and if any of the computers can become wireless connect them to the wireless network that you'll setup.

  2. i thought you only get to use 1 modem with 1 internet connection. you would have to pay for another internet connection and wire to be put in if you wanted 2 modems and i dont see why you would want this anyway. just use 1 modem, 1 router and use this for all your internet. routers dont have to be wireless you can use them with wires as well...

  3. no, only one modem will work on a line at a time, if you fit 2 modems your internet will fail to work, what you need is a router, you can connect up to 4 pcs by wire to most routers, if you dont want wireless you will be able to use a wired router but i would get a wireless one anyway, you can always turn the wireless part off while you are not using it, i personally think netgear routers are about the best but you should look around and see what you think

  4. really more expensive to have 2 different connections!!!!

i think you just need wireless net for 2 pcs to have internet...........
