Question:

Can I add a stone to a titanium wedding band?

My husband has a titanium band with light engraving on the inside. I was told it is hard to size titanium but was wondering if I can have it enhanced by having a sapphire added to it. Does anyone know if this can be done? If so do you know of a jeweler in the CT/MA/NH area? Thanks!

  1. no it can not be done after the fact

  2. We set round stones directly into titanium all the time; sapphires, diamonds, and rubies are strong enough to withstand the pressure we have to use in the setting process.  You can see examples of our titanium rings with sapphires here: http://ringsforever.com/rings/element/sa...  It is hard to recommend jewelers who can do this in a particular area--they must manufacture titanium and many stores do not do this even though they may carry titanium jewelry

    We also re-size titanium rings.

  3. Ask the jeweler where you bought the ring.

  4. well, I won't say it can't be done, but I will say it won't be easy.

If you wanted to add a stone held in place by a setting that rises above the band, then it's do-able.

If, however, you wanted to embed the stone in the ring...not so easy. Titanium is *very* difficult to cut. most jewelers add embellishment to it by acid etching it.

Best advice is find a jeweler who sells titanium rings and ask them.
