I'm 18 I don't plan on adopting for about 10 years, but after reading some of these answers I'm concerned that I won't be able to adopt at all. Thanks and any and all answers will be greatly appreciated!

  1. YEEESSSS!!!! hahaha

  2. yes you can but i think you have to make a lot of money. there are a lot of requirements.

  3. Yes, you certainly can!  It used to be that only married couples were able to adopt, but thankfully that has changed.  I'd suggest that you start by becoming a foster parent, as my husband and I did.  We ended up adopting three of our kids, and they are the lights of our life.  So many kids end up being in foster care permanently because there's not enough adoptive parents out there.  The numbers are truly staggering.

  4. absolutely!!!!!!! Go for it!!!!!!!!!!

  5. It depends on the country, but you can in the US

  6. ya!!!

  7. You absolutely can.  I adopted my son from Independent Adoption Agency in Los Angeles.  They deal with all states in the US.  They deal with open adoptions so the birthmother picks who they want to adopt their child.  This agency does not care if you are single, married, g*y, or straight.  Plus this agency only worries that you love the child and have enough money to support it.  You don't need to make a lot of extra money or anything crazy.

You can find more information on their website.

  8. I know that you CAN in the UK, if you meet the requirements

  9. As far as I'm aware, every country, and every state has different requirements for adoption, but usually marital status is flexible, what they're mostly looking for is stability.  For example, jumping in and out of different relationships, or on again/off again relationships would be much less favourable than being single.

I'm single, and I'm a foster parent, the process of application and the home and family study that you complete is basically the same as people applying for adoption over here (in Australia).  Being single wasn't a problem for me.

If you're still single when you look at adoption, maybe you could consider foster parenting or long term guardianship?  It's definitely not for everyone, but it truly does help the children who need it the most, and it's such a rewarding way of helping a child anc building a family.  You also get a lot more support and help for your children if they need it.

Either way, good luck, I hope that helps!

  10. Most countries you can adopt as a single parent. You just have to be able to meet all the other standards that they have as well... I believe adoption is a great choice for everyone to consider!
