Can I afford a car?

I'm looking for an old car that's modified a little. Sixties through eighties for example with any performance parts in them. My budget goes up to six grand, seven at most, and I live in New Jersey. Are there any cars with my preference here?

Before buying a car, consider the price of the car.  Then also consider how much the gas is going to cost and how much car insurance will cost.

Other than that, have you consulted a local "auto-trader" type newspaper or the classified section of a newspaper?
