So.. Im living with my grandmother right now. I jsut graduated high school. Now, it is time for me to move out. I found an apartment for rent at 350 a month. I do have a cell bill of 110 a month, and a few other things. I don't know the cost of cable and general electric bill in apartments. I need to know that to figure if I am capable to move! I work about 80 hours every 2 weeks, and get payed every two weeks! Can someone help me figure if I am able?

  1. First congrats on your graduation!

you bring a net 1400 a month, which is really about 1100 depending on what state you live in and what other deductions you have coming out of your paycheck.

Before you move out you need to keep in mind that because you may not have perfectly established credit or previous accounts with electric/cable companies you may need to put a good sized deposit down to get your services started.

Your basic cable and internet package will be about 80 a month.

If you live in an area where you will need constant air conditioning or heating it could greatly affect your electric cost.  My bill for a one bedroom place can range from 60 to 300 in the winter.

Be sure you always keep some reserve in your savings because things always tend to pop up when you least expect them.

Let me know if you need anymore help! =o)

  2. You can do it but you will probably have to get a cheaper phone plan and skip the cable.  Your electric bill will depend on how much power you use.  It's going to be hard but it can be done.

  3. it sounds as if you can but I'd make the phone bill a little cheaper if you can and you didn't mention if you had a car.... you have to have enough to pay first months rent and deposit which is usually the same as the first and put a deposit down on the utilities and connection charge so make sure you have enough the cable bill depends on what company you go through  time Warner basic is 50$ a month w/ Internet you're looking at 85  light that all depends on how much you use but ours is about 54 a month and that's 3 of us so your should  be cheaper does this apartment pay for water and gas? if so be prepared for that too. hope you make it out of the your grandmas house  good luck

  4. You can afford to move out with $9 an hour, but it might be a bit tight.

350 is very cheap for rent! If you have two rooms, try getting a roommate to split the rent, and utilities.

Tip for internet is try getting a laptop. You might be able to pick up some wireless connection! That will save you big!

Also, you can try cutting your phone bill a bit.

I would suggest try saving up some money before you actually move out. (always good to have some extra cash on hand in case anything happens)

    Good luck on moving out!

  5. Can you live on $9 an hour?

People do it every day... you'll figure it out.

I did that and went to college... and didn't get an form of public assistance.

The rent is very low too.

If push comes to shove you just might have to get another job or two when it comes down to it.

    That's life.

Getting paid every two weeks is good. it'll help you save money for your big bills.

WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD! Adulthood is sooo much fun.  be thankful you don't have kids!

But seriosuly, I'm proud of you for going out on your own and not mooching off an adult till your 30 like some kids do!  GO YOU!
