I am tired of the starter not working and even more tired of push starting it. If I could install a kick-start, it would make my life a whole lot easier

  1. just get a new starter and solenoid, make sure its wireds right it would take to much to do it money wise

  2. There aren't any aftemarket kicker kits for that bike.

It would be much easier to repair the starter.

  3. Forget installing a kick start.  For 1% of what that would cost, you could replace ALL of the components in your electric start system.

If you e-mail me, giving the symptoms of the problem, I can likely get you on the right road to fixing the bike. Tell me what happens from the time you turn the key on, and press the start button.  EVERYTHING, in sequence.  When you attempt the start- follow this sequence: bike in neutral, side stand down, clutch lever pulled all the way to handlebar.  Be certain the battery is fully charged.

I am looking for such things as- does the starter attempt to crank the engine?  Does the solenoid just click? Does the starter motor seem to run, but engine not turn over?

Since you can push start it, it sounds like the engine is in at least fair running condition.

This gives you an idea of the info required to diagnose a  starting problem.  Good luck.

  4. don't think you can install a kick starter on a bike that wasn't designed with it, just like you can't do the same (well practically, anyways.. you can do anything if you put your mind to it and have the right tools) with electric start on a bike that wasn't designed with it.
